David Russell: Consumers Institute
 
David Russell is the Chief Executive of Consumers’ Institute New Zealand.
 He is responsible for the Institute's research and commercial publishing activities. In addition he is the Institute’s public spokesman on current consumer issues and its representative on a number of industry and government organisations.
The principal aim of Consumers’ Institute is to collect and disseminate information and in so doing, advance the interests of its subscribing members and those of consumers generally.  This is achieved through research, the publication of Consumer magazine and through Consumer online at  www.consumer.org.nz.
 
 
Karen Stevens:  Insurance Savings Ombudsman
 
Karen Stevens was appointed Insurance & Savings Ombudsman (“ISO”)  in May 1998. 
Karen graduated with a BA and Law degree from Victoria University and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1987.  While she lived in England in the mid 1980’s she worked as a lawyer in Cornwall and, on her return to New Zealand, she commenced practice as a solicitor with Bandon Brookfield in 1989 and then Simpson Grierson.
Karen gained prosecution experience under the Fair Trading Act 1986 with a secondment to the Commerce Commission.  In 1994, she co-founded the firm of Stapleton Stevens, specializing in commercial litigation and ADR.  In 1996 she was also a part-time tutor in litigation and commercial law at Wellington Polytechnic.
Since her appointment as ISO, Karen has also qualified as an Associate of The Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management.
 
 
Jan Barraclough:  Spicers
 
As a senior adviser with over 10 years experience Jan provides financial planning and investment advice to a selected mix of highly successful professionals and business owners. They range from senior academics and medical professionals to defence personnel, corporate executives and some of New Zealand's most innovative business owners. Jan networks carefully with specialist legal, accounting, marketing and other professional advisers to provide robust financial strategies for her private clients and their trusts. She writes for the press and is also an accomplished seminar presenter. Invitations to her Lunchtime Workshops are highly sought after. She has a young family which occupy a lot of her time. Robyn Cormack:  Retirement Commission
 
Robyn is the Marketing Communications Manager for the Retirement Commission -the autonomous Crown Entity charged with helping New Zealanders prepare financially for retirement.
Robyn has been at the Commission for 6 years and thrives on the eclectic social marketing mix that typifies the role. Her position ranges from corporate communicator, media spokesperson, brand builder, and web site manager all in aid of marketing and communicating relevant personal financial messages to kiwis young and old
 
Janet Xuccoa:   Rowe & Associates
 
Janet Xuccoa is a Trust Manager at Gilligan Rowe & Associates.  She has a B.Com degree and has nearly completed her law degree. Janet works within the GRA practice as a Professional Trust Manager and her expertise lies in Trust Administration and associated transactional work. Janet presents to a wide variety of people, including property investors, accountants, business organisations and women’s groups.  Her passion lies in assisting people purchase property and developing structures to protect their assets. Kevin Jones:  Hesketh Henry
 
Kevin is a trust lawyer, admitted to practise in three jurisdictions, namely New Zealand, England and Wales and South Africa.  Kevin assists clients, both onshore and offshore, with structuring their personal and business affairs and also assists with capital transfers between jurisdictions, with an emphasis on asset protection, tax and business efficiencies.
Kevin was previously with Ernst &Young's tax division, where he was leader of their Trust Focus Group and a regular speaker at seminars.  Kevin will be assisted by Bernard Walsh.   www.heskethhenry.co.nz
 
 
Trevor Pugh:  New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services
 
Trevor was a Marine Engineer and skipper of tug and charter boats for many years.  As part of Birthright, established prior to WINZ and CYF, he helped single parent families with budgeting.  Now as District Representative for the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services he continues to give budgeting advice for those in need.  He also works as a natural therapist.
 
Lyn Buckley
Lyn Buckley has 17 years experience in Financial Services, and is qualified as a Certified Financial Planner.  As CEO of Health and Wealth Management, Lyn consults with individuals and business groups in all aspects of Financial Health to achieve personal wealth targets while maintaining balance in lifestyle health strategies.
